97.3 KBCO, a local Denver,CO radio station and announced the lineup for the Mile High Music Festival, set to take place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on July 19th and 20th. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Dave Matthews Band were named as the headliners for the festival. DMB's show will be held on the second night of the festival, July 20th. KCBO is also sponsoring the event.

The concerts were originally planned for City Park in the urban-festival style of the Austin City Limits festival or Seattle 's Bumbershoot, where the city streets become the stage for the music. Objections from Denver Zoo officials over the possibility of trauma to its animals from the loud music, so it was relocated to the soccer fields outside of Dick's.
