Record Store Day on Saturday, April 17th, 2010 will celebrate over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.
On this day there will be numerous vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances.
According to Radio-Active Records, there will be a 7" Vinyl released with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. The release will feature 2 songs, "Squirm" and "Lying in the Hands of God" from the 2009 Las Vegas shows. This release will be available for approximately $3.49. (while quantities last).
In the digital age vinyl might seem unheard of to some, but it is still more popular than you might think. During the initial release of "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" DMB released a limited edition 7" Vinyl to independent record store with the purchase of the album. The album itself was also released on Vinyl and can still be purchased. If anything, it will make for a good collectors items, just look at what the "Before The Crowded Streets" LP is going for on Ebay!
