How long have you been a DMB fan?: I started casually when BTCS came out, but it wasn't until I saw them live in the late 2000's that it REALLY took off for me.
What is your favorite DMB song?: Pig, Shotgun, Kill the King, Sugar Will, #41, Halloween, Big Eyed Fish/Bartender, Cry Freedom - I could keep going
How many concerts have you attended?: 20, and climbing
What does the music mean to you?: Absolutely everything. There is no where else I'd rather be, than watching Dave and crew performing and doing what they're so good at, and what they love.
I'll expand on it a bit in "special moments", but I love this band, and everything they do for their fans whether directly or not. It's a huge part of my life, and I'll never forget it.
Any special moments you would like to share?: The friends I have made, and the bond that we share over the love of music (not just DMB, but even other bands) is incredible to me. The road trips, camping, tailgating and many nights of sharing beers, burgers and vodka-infused watermelon have been the highlights of my life. Going through a divorce, my DMB friends/family were there - 2 days after it was finalized, we went to Charlottesville and they bought me my drinks and kept me out of a funk.
Also, I took my dad to his first show at PNC park in 2010 as a father's day gift. We're both drummers, and he's a huge Carter fan (who isn't?) - so I got us Warehouse tickets, and I think he almost cried because he heard his favorite songs (Ants and Two Step) with his son. To top it all off, we were seated directly behind someone who started a conversation with us, and turned out to be my mom's childhood best friend! They hadn't spoken to each other in years, but DMB brought them back together, indirectly!
I hope to have a conversation with Mr. DJM some day, just so I can shake his hand and tell him how much he means to me.
