ATO Records gets a listen to Dave Matthews Band new album
ATO Records, founded by Dave Matthews and DMB manager Coran Capshaw, got a sneak peak at Dave Matthews Band new album "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King".
On Wednesday, March 25th they had a listening party of the new studio album, which included RCA VP, Bruce Flohr. Based on ATO's article, the feedback was very positive describing the new album as "a mix between 1998’s “Before These Crowded Streets” and Matthews’ 2003 solo effort “Some Devil.” The consensus at ATO Records was - quote: "the best DMB we’ve heard in years."
This is the first studio release since 2005 "Stand Up" and with producer Rob Cavallo on board, it has given fans hope for a exciting new album.
The loss of LeRoi Moore last Summer has been very hard on the band and the fans, but as mentioned in a recent Rolling Stone article previewing the new album, Dave Matthews says that LeRoi is a presence on the album as he had done some studio recording prior to is passing. The article also mentions the only currently known track of the record, "Lying in the Hands of God"
"Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King" hits stores on June 2nd, 2009 and ATO rants that "There are plenty of surprises to be announced from DMB’s camp including some pretty unique fan input that you’ll be wowed by."
Stay tuned...
