Farm Aid 2015
A farmer gets up before dawn and is asleep as the sun goes down. Works in the fields, planting, fertilizing, harvesting and taking their goods to market. Today's farmer deals with issues his father and grandfather never had to. Worrying about pesticides, new trade deals, corporate involvement in family farming, keeping the water and soil clean, keep them awake at night, just to name a few.
Farm aid has been helping the family farmer raise awareness and has helped to raise money for the family farm since 1985. Willie Nelson, Neil Young,mane John Mellemcamp organized the first concert and in 2001 Dave Matthews joined the Board of Directors. Farm Aid is a non profit organization whose mission is to keep family farms strong and resilient . They have raised 48 million dollars to help gain awareness of family farms system and agriculture.
This year Farm Aid will celebrate its 30th year in Chicago at The First Merit Pavillion at Northerly Island on September 19th. It is an all day music and food festival featuring a lineup of artists,local and organic food, HOMEGROWN Village where attendees can meet with farmers, engage in hands on food and farming activities, and learn the ways of enriching our soil, protecting the water supply and bringing good food to our tables.
Performances by all the board members, Jack Johnson, Imagine Dragons and Kacey Musgraves are leading the lineup, just the name a few.
