On July 6th, 2009, during the midst of a month long European tour, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds made a stop at Warner Music Group in Hamburg, Germany for an intimate private show. The show was intended for the press only, however there were a very small number of tickets given out as well.
The show was a total of 7 songs, 3 of which were from DMB's new studio album, "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King". Songs performed were, "Funny The Way It Is", "Lying in the Hands of God" and "You and Me". This marking the first time that the new "Big Whiskey" tunes were played Dave & Tim style.
While we may think of DMB as mainly an American touring group, these musicians are no stranger to the other side of the big seas. Since their European debut of 11 dates in 1995, these men have made numerous trips to Europe, South America, and Australia, performing at festivals, free events, and small and large venues alike.
UPDATE: 05.13.09 Ticket Requests are NOW available via the warehouse. You can request up to 2 tickets and they are going for $80 each. Seats are very limited. Tickets will not be available to the public for this show. Good Luck!
The concert, presented by Madison Square Garden’s national music network Fuse and MSG Entertainment, will benefit Dave Matthews Band’s Bama Works Fund supporting charitable programs in the Charlottesville, VA area.
This show will be a live broadcast on Fuse TV. In addition Fuse will air the four-part original documentary “Dave Matthews Band: The Road to Big Whiskey”, a 360-degree experience which began on April 14 as the band launched their Spring 2009 tour with a sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden.
Last night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dave Matthews Band played new song “Seven” from the upcoming album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Since the start of the Spring Tour on April 14th, DMB have been playing new songs from Big Whiskey at every show. The first new songs to debut on the tour were “Funny The Way It Is”, “Spaceman” and “Why I Am”. They have been played at every show since.
“Seven” marks the forth song off the new album to be performed live and the album has yet to be officially released, but will be very soon on June 2nd.
Another new song to debut during the tour was “Beach Ball”, a b-side from the Big Whiskey album which will be available on the bonus disc included with the purchase of the Super Deluxe Edition.
...or a curve ball, however you want to look at it. Dave Matthew Band played new song, "Beach Ball" last night in Alpharetta, GA. "Beach Ball" was just announced days ago as one of four songs that would appear on the Bonus Disc available with the purchase of the "Super Deluxe" Package of Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.
Since the start of the Spring Tour, DMB have been playing new songs: "Funny The Way It Is", "Why I Am" and "Spaceman" from the new studio album. While it is not too surprising that DMB would only debut a few new songs prior to the albums release (June 2nd), it was probably more than unexpected to see a "b-side" or bonus track from the album performed live!
