There is no doubt that this album is reminiscent of old school Dave Matthews Band. There is a distinctly unique feel evident in the band's first four albums, “Remember Two Things,” “Under the Table and Dreaming,” “Crash,” and “Before These Crowded Streets.” Many fans felt that the band lost their way with “Everyday” and “Stand Up,” as the characteristic DMB essence seemed to have changed somehow. Now that the old DMB spirit has returned for “Big Whiskey,” we can clearly see what has been missing.
Dave Matthews Band announced today that the Beacon Theatre show on June 1st will be streaming live on Hulu.com. This will be Hulu's first-ever live concert stream, beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST.
Fuse TV will be broadcasting the show live, but for those who don't get the Fuse channel can turn to their computers to get the same live broadcast, bringing DMB to multiple mediums.
The Beacon Theatre holds a mere 2800 people, being an oddly small crowd for a typical Dave Matthews Band concert. An exclusive show for lucky fans, who will get a taste of "Big Whiskey" that evening. The show is a benefit concert for DMB's own Bama Works Fund.
Dave Matthews Band now has an iPhone Application called Tap Tap Revenge. The app can be downloaded from itunes for a price of $4.99 and is also compatible with the iPod Touch.
To celebrate the launch, Tapulous is giving away a slew of DMB prizes. You can win a pair of tickets to a Dave Matthews Band concert this summer or one of 30 copies of Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King (some exclusions may apply).
We've all witnessed the fruits of Dave's imagination evident in his ability to write songs and play music, both of which are amazing contributions to the musical milieu. But what I find even more phenomenal, is the way that he dabbles in other mediums with such apparent ease.
"Shake Me Like a Monkey" became available early this morning via the Itunes Pass which has been releasing new content every week. A video preview of "Shake Me Like a Monkey" was first revealed in the beginning of April where a group of 15 DMB fans lingered outside the New Orleans studio hoping for a chance to meet DMB.
Next Tuesday: Download of "Lying in the Hands of God"
Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King has been highly anticipated by fans and now with only 2 more weeks until the album release the Itunes pass continues to tease with bits and pieces of Big Whiskey.
Did you buy the Itunes pass? You still can, and while it might seem like an unnecessary extra $20 to spend there is more content on the way.
